County Committee Meetings

HERTS COUNTY SRA MINUTES
COMMITTEE MEETING
At Stevenage Fire Station at 7.30 p.m.
on 23rd February 2006

Action
Present: Dominic Webster, Isobel Smith, Sally Ann Webster, Jason Foster, Fiona McLure and Paul Drakes

Apologies: Derek Thorpe, Nicky Wase

Treasurer’s Report
Paul Drakes confirmed that all accounts and bookkeeping documents had been handed over to him by Dean Clayton. Isobel also handed Paul the cheque book. Several accounts matters were discussed.

Secretary’s Report

Dominic has received a letter from England Squash setting out proposals to hold area squash forums for Secretaries instead of the main meetings held up in Manchester, as not many people turn up for these. We have been put in South East area, but the committee felt it would be easier if were in the East Anglian area. Dominic to speak to England Squash.

Dominic also needs to inform England Squash that Paul Drakes will be taking over as treasurer.

All clubs in Herts are now affiliated.

Ladies Leagues
Fiona confirmed that the leagues were running well and that some teams were fielding new players, which was improving the standard of the leagues.

Mens League

Complaints regarding the men’s first division were discussed at length by the committee.

Herts Cup 2006
Sally Ann has completed the draw.
This year the ties are being played following the end of the season and matches will start week commencing 20th March. The only problem with doing it this way is that clubs will have to book courts for the week after, not knowing if they will be playing or not. They will just have to provisionally book the courts and then cancel if they are not needed. The semi-finals fall in week commencing 10th April and the finals will be held, hopefully, on Thursday 20th April. Radlett was suggested as a possible venue and Sally Ann will contact Derek to sound him out.

Website
Changes to the website were discussed.

Herts Closed Age Groups
Jason has only had four entries so far for this event. He will email entry form to Sally Ann so that she can email to all her contacts. We also need to print some posters to put up in the clubs.

Any Other Business.
Jason has now become National Grade referee. Well done Jason.

AGM
Monday 26th June was pencilled in as date the AGM.

Possible venues for the AGM, Gosling (Sally Ann to ask) or Odyssey (Dominic to find out more) or Paul has access to a hall with bar in Stevenage area which could also be used.

Herts Closed
Thanks to Jason for all his hard work arranging the Herts Closed, which went extremely well.

Next Meeting to be arranged.
