Waller & Lust Shine for England

TWO of our outstanding young squash players have recently been representing England in the U19 European Championships in Stavanger, Norway. Adrian Waller, who recently won the Men’s Hertfordshire Closed, reached the semi final where he succumbed to eventual winner Gregorie Marche.

Waller took his higher-seeded opponent to four games in their semi - but Marche maintained
his focus to record a 9-3, 3-9, 9-3, 9-2 win, and a place in the final for the first time, where he went on to beat top seed Nicolas Mueller.

Waller lost out in the 3/4 playoff to reigning British junior Champion Joe Lee.
Victoria Lust from Bedfordshire made it all the way to the women's final after knocking out England team mate Victoria Bell in their semi final in straight games.

In a repeat of last year’s final, top seeds Lust and Serme did battle for the title, with Lust hoping to stop her French opponent from becoming the first ever player to become a three-time European Junior Champion.

Lust played with determination and style to take a 2/1 and 6/3 lead before being pegged back by her French opponent. Serme took the final game 9/1 to win the title but Lust deserves great credit for pushing her so hard in this exciting match. Both of our star players gained some form of revenge by helping England retain the team event title, beating France in the final.
