Annual General Meeting

I trust that you have been enjoying the summer break and are getting fit in preparation for the new season. I look forward to seeing you at the forthcoming AGM (agenda follows) when as usual there will be plenty to discuss.

The club refurbishment is on schedule and we re-open on September 8th with 3 glass backs, new changing facilities, a significantly increased bar area and improved viewing for the exhibition court (1). Additionally, all courts have received their annual maintenance and the floor of court 2 has been replaced.

You have all been informed, either via email or the website, that Matt Potter has accepted a job at Culford School in Dorset. The Committee thanked Matt for all his efforts over the last few years and wished him well for the future.

I am delighted to be able to tell you that we propose to appoint Jason Foster as our new Manager. I'm sure Jason needs no introduction to members. Current Herts Closed champion and holder of the National Police title, he has been a member since he was 12 and is one of the best players the Club has ever produced. On top of that he is an extremely able and sociable person. Since Jason, as Manager, will need to stand down as club captain, I am also pleased to announce that Nick Ridgway has agreed to stand again in this role. As you know Nick performed a sterling service for many years before handing over to Jason. The committee are confident that with Jason's lead, the club will be provided with the management which will take us to a much higher level and add value for all our members.
