Herts County Junior Squash
Minutes of Meeting 2/9/2002
Back
Present: Ray Waller, Chris Wilkinson, Dudley
Fuller, Ron Worrel, Dave Sciberras, Julian Craxton, Simon Andrews
Finance:
The seniors STILL owe us money.
Seems we have to keep going cap in hand to get payment. Would be nice if it was given over rather than us begging. Dave Sciberras to follow this up with Dean.
Without the Awards for All money we would basically have nothing in the bank and we also need to get next years amount settled soonest as the Awards for All money is allocated to be spent.
It was noted that at the Senior AGM it was mentioned that the Awards for All funding might mean we would not need so much form the Senior Committee. This notion was quashed as the funding received is allocated to grow squash at a Junior level.
2002/03 season should see at least £1250 from the central funding as their current balance stands at approx. £7000 with SRA funds to be added.
Herts County Closed:
Ron had it all in hand. Since the meeting the entry date has closed and I counted a record 106 entries. The draw has been done and e-mailed.
Congratulations to Ron for getting this done so efficiently and a pat on the back to all committee members who I know have been phoning around to get the extra numbers.
On the day :
Safety Glasses – Julian/Dave Scibberas to bring some along
Refs. : Dave Scib. To ask 2 refs. For the semi’s/finals on the Sunday
Marking: Winner should Mark. Raffle tickets will be given to children who mark. These will be put in as hat and a prize drawn at the end of the tournament. The more you mark the greater the chance.
Girls : Sunday only if numbers not sufficient.
Team managers should be rounding up players in the age group they are responsible for to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.
Awards For All
After much discussion the following breakdown was agreed:
Elite ; £500
County: £750
Club: £1250
Schools: £2000
The elite should be for people ranked in the top 20 in the COUNTRY. Training
days with top coaches to be arranged.
County: County Coaching. Dec. 8th and Jan 12th already
set.
Julian Craxton agreed to look at running an U11 training/open day
Club : Running of Interclub tournament.
School: Need to get new players interested. The County will be divided into
districts and schools approached to discuss possible opportunities.
Ron will get the areas into which the county is divided. All committee
members to come back to the October meeting with some thoughts. As we are spread
across the County with Children attending schools then maybe these are good
starting points.
Local Events:
Oct. 5th/6th – Tom Elton Barrett – U19 and U 17 at Bishops Stortford.
New Committee Members
It was good to see Simon Andrews attending. Berkhampsted are one of the countries larger clubs and an input from them is much welcomed. Simon has agreed to be an ‘ordinary’ member of the committee and will attend meetings whenever possible.
Julian Craxton will shortly be doing Radlett Juniors on top of his school activities. Again he will attend whenever possible.
Interclub
Ron will start this late Oct. early November. The format will be similar to last year.
A.O.B.
Adrian Waller is now ranked at number 1 in the British Junior U13 ranking list. Adrian recently won the Grand Prix event of the top 16 in the country securing his position up to his 13th Birthday on the 26/12/02.
This is a first Junior nos. 1 Hertfordshire has had for many years. (Did Paul Carter ever reach nos.1as a junior?). Well done Adrian.
Next Meeting Monday October 7th
