Minutes of Meeting  7/1/02

Present: Ray Waller, Chris Wilkinson, , Ron Worrel,  Roxanne, Dave Sciberas, Dave Kerr. Derek Thorpe.

Finances:  Need to get confirmation from Dean of just how much more money the Junior squash section will receive in the 2001/02 season.

CW will finalise the AWARDS FOR ALL application. R. Waller passed all paperwork to Chris.

With the very high expenditure on County Games we may need to consider getting some more funds from the reserves held in the ‘County Squash’ account. Our complaints to the SRA for the farcical trip to Falmouth have so far fell on deaf ears. No acknowledgement has been received.

Intertcounty: Busy period approaching:

 U/13  - Hosting  2/3rd Feb – Dave Sciberas at Bishop Stortford.

U/15  -  Hosting 19th Jan. – Ray Waller at Cannons, St Albans – (3 teams, we beat Bucks 5-0, lost to Gloucester 3-2 as this was a relegation league we stay up. Thanks to Lesley for supplying the courts and food. Lesley will invoice cost of food to us).

U/17  - Hosting 2nd/3rd Feb – Dudley Fuller at HCC

U/19  - 19th/20th Jan away Havant – Dave Proudfoot in control.

 From travelling silly distances we now are hosting 3 of the four age groups. This in itself has costs with food and court fees where applicable. Everything is however under control and thanks to all team managers for their efforts.

County Rankings: Ron has completed them and we should all have them. Results of the County closed have been sent to the SRA.

 Interclub – to date 24 matches played 52 to be played. Generally going well. Hazelwoods did not turn up for an U11 game. This was a genuine oversight and has been re-arranged for the 20/1/02.

Training: Girls planned for 3rd Feb. – 10am – 11.30. Various standards across age groups. Lesley is arranging..

 U13 boys training has been arranged by Dave Sciberas for the 27th Jan at Bishops Stortford.

Herts County Web Site

Derek came along to explain what we could do to increase the content on the site. Derek is now in charge of the site and any useful information sent electronically (e-mail) to him can be easily put on. The site address is: www.herts-squash.org.uk

  • Ron will send rankings and interclub league info. to Derek.

  • CW will look through Herts closed entries for those who gave e-mail addresses so we can inform them of the site.

  • Links are possible to club sites. (14 Hertfordshire clubs are already linked)

  • News, future events, ladders, county match reports, etc.

If we can be creative and can find time in our busy schedules to prepare content for the web site then this would be appreciated. Please advise your club managers of this as they too might be able to add useful squash info. and maybe sponsorship of the site in exchange for a small ad!.

AOB – CW to e-mail Gill Sciberras accounts spread sheets so that Gill can start taking over the accounts. This transition should be completed before the end of the season so that 2002/03 season is completely in the hands of Gill.

Herts was well represented at the junior British Open. Currently we have two players ranked in the Uk – Adam Fuller U17 and Adrian Waller U13.

 Neil Waller has beaten the nos. 8,11,13,17 ranked in the U15 but as Neil has not participated in the designated events (other sport commitments) he is omitted from the ranking list. I have questioned this system with the SRA on the basis of why should one event be so critical, but no reply. Perhaps Karen can assist?.
