Minutes of Meeting 9th December 2002
Back
Present: Ray Waller, Chris Wilkinson, , Dudley Fuller, , Ron
Worrel, Dave Kerr, Dave Sciberras, John Dixon, Simon Andrews, Julian Craxton.
Finances: £8,006 in the bank. Dave to investigate transferring some to a high interest account. Money beginning to be spent in line with the awards for all plan.
Herts Closed: Total Cost - £420, Income £1000, profit approx. £600.
Inter County: U17’s 3rd = cost to county zero.
U13’s 4th - costs £278 which was well within initial
costings.
Expenses for Inter County: John Dixon presented a template as the basis for allowable expenses when staying away. This was accepted as a good ‘guide’. The overriding factor in all trips should be value for money and cost minimalisation in conjunction with an acceptable standard of Hotel, dining etc.
Inter County Feb 2003 –U17 we are hosting - only 3 teams - Ray Waller looking to run in one day at Berkhampsted - 8th Feb. Teams are Herts, Suffolk and West Wales.
U19 – Div 1 South – Away over the weekend of the 1/2nd Feb. . Likely venue Chichester. Teams involved Essex, Cornwall, Hampshire, Herts.
U15 – Away at Weymouth 1st/2nd Feb – versus Cornwall, Dorset, Middlesex.
U13 – Hosting – John Dixon looking to run it at B. Stortford.
Girls U13 – We did not manage to put a team out for Inter County. Could be a possibility of a fine.
U/11, U13 v Essex – Julian to speak with Graham Bannister to get a match going between the two counties encompassing boys and girls. Involvement of those just out of the top ranks is the aim, however this can be decided after talking with Essex.
Friendly v Middx. – We took a mixed U13 – U17 team to Mill Hill. Enjoyable afternoon but we should have included a few more top players. We will offer a ‘re-match’ later in the season.
Friendly v Avon : Richard Pope has been in contact to arrange a friendly. Simon Andrews will contact him to discuss more details and possible dates.
Girls Training Day: 28 turned up which must be some kind of record. Most were from Cannons and Radlett. A £5.00 charge was made. This should be reviewed for the next training day.
Congrats to all involved in this. Julian will liaise with Lesley to set the next Girls training day. Need to increase the number of clubs involved.
Awards For all: It was agreed that a legitimate use of funds would be to pay Ron Worrell £50/month in order to ensure the plans put forward are actioned and carried through to the best of our abilities. As the majority of committee members are voluntary with little time for in depth work on the Awards for all this action was seen as important to its success.
Ron did not want to work with targets but rather the fee is based on what the committee believed his efforts achieved. A £50/month payment can be the initial starting point.
Ron will work to develop the relationship between the committee and the SDO’s of the County (Ray passed on e-mails from those SDO’s who have shown an interest.).
Ron will also approach Betty Longhurst of Tring to discuss how they achieved success in getting into schools. Also Betty might be able to assist the committee in Girls development.
It might also be useful for Ron to speak with Paul Selby who has had success in bringing in Schools for squash development in Essex. Paul achieves this with Awards for all money. His e- mail is paul@selbs.freeserve.co.uk
Ron Palmer could also be a good help in our quest. Maybe the two Ronnies should get together for a chat and come to the committee with some proposals!.
Interclub: All going OK.
Herts Youth Games: We should aim to get teams from 5 Regions. The players are supposed to be below County Standard. The date for the HYG is 15/5. Maybe something for the two Ronnies?. Need to liase with the SDO responsible for the HYG.
A.O.B.
Well done to Oliver Dixon and Daniel Sciberras for getting in the English top 20 Rankings for the first time.

Adam Fuller continues to be ranked midway in the top 20 U/19 English Rankings. Well done Adam.

The next Awards for All application needs consideration in the near future. Maybe Karen Selby can assist for an agreed % of any award?.
