Herts County Junior Meeting 15/11/04

Financials

The cost of hosting inter-county events were discussed and the fee asked by Bishop Stortford for the U13 event were queried. This fee has now been reduced to an acceptable amount.

All team managers need to check the costs of courts before committing themselves to the venue.
Dave Sciberras asked that if those who receive cheque payments could e-mail him confirmation that they have received them.

Balance now down to approx. £1700.

Inter County:

U13 team won – all played well.

U17 Team won – Oliver Dixon beating Chris Sherman (Essex) to give us an excellent victory.
The 2^nd rounds are due to be played 6^th Feb for the above. U17 will play Essex 2 and Oxfordshire (Host) and have a good chance of reaching the finals on the 14^th May in Manchester.

The 2^nd round for U15 and U19 is on the 30^th Jan.

County Shirts – All County team members should be given a County Shirt and it would be good if we could have a uniform approach along with the seniors. Jason has shirts for the seniors and we should look to have the same.

Inter  Club -  The season has started well although some matches have gone on a long time. An U19 at Hazelwood lasted approaching 5 hours!! Fortunately in this instance court time was available. However, in the event of court time being limited individual clubs must take the decision if games should be shortened to best of 3.

Some date clashes were reported and Ron W will speak to Ron Palmer regarding this.

Coaching: Steve to speak with John Dixon and Dave Sciberras. Need to get some dates for U13 and U15 coaching.
Steve is undertaking some ‘taster sessions’ at Dacorum Sports Centre on Friday 14^th Jan.

Girls – Coaching morning planned for 12/12/04

U13 team came 3^rd in inter county but all played well and learnt a lot.

Graded Tournaments – Last one held had 44 entries. Next Graded tournament scheduled for 19/12/04. Julian continues to do a sterling job in this area..

Awards For All – Re – Submission was agreed. This was subsequently done with Dave Sciberras along with Ray Waller revising the application.

Congrats to Bishop Stortford for hosting the British Junior Closed U17 and U13 Championship. Both Adrian and Philip Waller reached the quarter finals.
