HERTS LOST TO KENT 1-4

Unfortunately we lost our number 3 player, James Barbett, on Sunday morning with flu. This meant that players number 3 and 4 stepped up one place and William Ruston came in at number 5. Albie and William went on the court first and this was their first experience of Inter County competition. They had to move up a place in the order. It took them some time to get settled but both played well. James Grimston was another victim with this flu virus and struggled in his match with his energy levels. Well done to Jack Fowler who was our only success against Kent. Bradlet Whitebread played at number 6. He had a good game against Kent number 5 and lost 2-0.
Essex 1 played Essex 2 and Essex 1 won 5-0 respectively.

Next match was Herts against Essex 2.

Results:

Herts Essex 2
James Grimston (won 9-3, 9-7, 8-10,10-8) Owain Taylor 3-1
Jack Fowler (won 9-2, 9-1, 9-4) Ryan Brown 3-0
Albie Gibbs (won 9-2, 10-8, 10-8) Tom Core 3-0
Angus Gillams (lost 9-4, 9-3,8-10,8-10,7-9) Henry Beckwith 2-3
William Ruston (won 5-9,7-9,9-4,9-5,9-2) Michael Volf 3-2
Bradley Whitebread (won 9-0,9-0,9-0) Jonathan Barrat 3-0

HERTS BEAT ESSEX 2   4-1

Albie recovered from his match with Kent and had a good victory 3-0. William went on and at 2-0 down it looked all over but that fighting spirit came through and he won 3-2. Well done. Jack had a comfortable win 3-0. Angus played well and went ahead 2-0. Next two games very close but it was all square at 2-2. Another close 5th game with Essex 2 just winning 9-7. A great match Angus well done. Essex 2 brought a number 6 player and Bradley won 3-0. A great result Bradley.

Essex 1 beat Kent 3-2 so all to play for when Herts had to play Essex 1 who needed a win to go through to National Final.

HERTS LOST TO ESSEX 1   0-5

Everyone played well against Essex 1.They were a bit too strong for us and they won 5-0 and are off to Final. Well done to Essex 1. A great performance from the team especially when you take into consideration that we had 3 players from under 11 so all should be better for next year.

We are grateful to Cannons and Bob Fowler and Parents for helping out with the transport and for supporting the team on the day.
