Herts County Junior Squash

Herts County Junior Meeting 11/05/09
Present: Ron Worrall, John Beattie, Andrew Mulvey, Julian Craxton, Dave Kerr, Richard Carr
Apologies: Ray Waller, Dave Richards, Steve Lloyd

Committee changes:
• The Committee welcomed new member Richard Carr from Berkhamsted. It is good to have representation from such a big club in the county. Sadly, we also said goodbye to Dave Kerr at this meeting. The committee wished to than Dave for his time on the committee.
Awards For All:
• Unfortunately we were unsuccessful with our application, which was disappointing, but it was agreed that John would look for further support and sponsorship from other sources.
• John to update the committee at the next meeting.
Finances:
• Cash in bank was £4,200
• The Senior Committee has agreed to make £100 monthly contributions going forward rather than the usual annual payment.
• Andrew indicated that the current annual spend was in the region of £2,500 - £3,000 per year

Herts Closed:
• There was discussion on the format of the Closed tournament. It was agreed that the under 9’s and 11’s would continue to be run at Radlett by Julian – this year’s tournament to be held on Saturday 12th September.
• There was further debate on the format of the other age groups and provisionally it has been agreed on the 19th and 20th for the under 13’s and 17’s and the 26th and 27th for the under 15’s and under 19’s, although there is still the possibility of holding all age groups on one weekend subject to court availability. Venue(s) and date(s) to be confirmed following the next meeting.
• Andrew to confirm available dates from England Squash
• Richard will provide progess on the development at Berkhamsted at the next meeting and the potential court availabilty for the tournament.
• Julian will arrange for trophies and t-shirts and Ron will ask Dunlop for prizes

InterCounty
• The under 17’s boys team finished in a very respectable 3rd place and the under 13 boys were winners of the plate competition. Very well done to both teams on their performances.

Inter club
• Ron gave a final update on the inter club competition. A big thank you to Ron for once again running the inter club leagues.
• Ron has now produced the final rankings for the season

Girls Squash
• Julian reported on a charity tournament at Radlett and a three county event (also at Radlett) between Cambs, Beds and Herts which produced a Herts winner in Hannah Daly.

Grand Prix events
• It was agreed that there would be two grand prix events to be organised for next season, one before and one after Christmas

Herts open
• Andrew reported on a very successful Herts Open which featured some notable results for Herts players. In an all Herts final for the under 17 boys, Nick Mulvey beat Phil Waller. In the girls under 17s Jemma Ockwell triumphed and Hannah Daly won the under 13 girls


AOB
• Richard reported on the first junior committee meeting at Berkhamsted.
