Herts County Junior Meeting 5/12/2005

Present: Ray, Dudley, Ron, Julian, Steve, Dave Richards, Dave Sciberras, Ron Palmer., Rob Fowler, Chris Thomas

Ray Waller welcomed Rob Fowler and Chris Thomas to the committee. Rob took on the U13 team manager job, and Chris will be taking over as treasurer from Dave Sciberras.

Finance: £4224.33p available in the bank. Senior funding still to be obtained (believe this is now in place)

County Shirts – These have been ordered (and are now available). Cost approx £400. These are to be allocated to County players for the next Inter-County matches.

Inter County:

18th Dec mixed U10/U11 v Middlesex – approx 20 from each County.- Canons 9.30 – 12.15

18th Dec Boys/Girls graded Event – Radlett 2-5pm

Keep good work up Julian and Steve!

Girls – Coaching Morning scheduled for 11/12/05 at canons 10-12.30. Approx 20 expected to attend.

Coaching: Steve Lloyd has fixed several dates in his diary.

8th Jan U15 – Top 12
29th Jan U13 – Top 12
26th Feb U11 – Top 12

12th March U11, U13, U15. – Lower ranked players
23rd April U17, U19 - lower ranked players

By lower ranked we should aim for the 7-15 rankings as they would not be in the County teams.

U17 – Grand Prix Event – It was pointed out by Dave Richards that he felt there was a gap in our programme which meant a lot of U17 players slipped through the net.

It was agreed to try and set up on an 8 weekly basis a ‘Grand Prix’ event for 16 U17 players. These players are not to be the top County players but those in the lower rankings. Dave, Julian and Steve will look into this and set up an event to tip our toe in the water.


Rankings: After much discussion it was agreed to set up two rankings which should both be lodged on the Herts website.

The COUNTY RANKINGS will be based on the age of a player on the following dates:

This will reflect the national system where a player moves into the next age group on the date of his Birthday. This gives a true reflection of your standard in the County for your age.

HERTFORDSHIRE JUNIOR INTER CLUB LEAGUE RANKINGS – as we run this event based on the school year these rankings will reflect this fact and enable the players to see who they might be playing on any given inter club match and assess their opponents ranking against their own.

This ranking system does not take into account the actual age of a player on the date of the game.

Ron Worrel will continue to run the Inter Club League Ranking.

Steve Lloyd and Julian will put together the County Ranking on the dates detailed above and send them to Derek for posting on the Website.

Please can team managers and Ron Worrell assist Steve and Julian for these rankings. The County Rankings should cover the top 10 players. These rankings should have the D.O.B next to each player. It should of course cover both Boys and Girls.

Awards for All

Steve Lloyd has just completed a course with Grove Juniors Harpenden – this took place over 6 weeks with weekly attendance of between 13 – 15 players.

Broxbourne – Wish to invite three schools for coaching - St Katherines, Longlands and Broxbourne. A new coach – Geoff Taylor – is trying to improve the Junior squash scene at Broxbourne. They are all U11. One school between Jan – March, 2 schools April – May.

Committee agreed to fund the 3x 6 week courses with £120 per 6 weeks. This will be in stepped payments. If Ron could get Geoff Taylor to give us feedback on the numbers etc. it would be appreciated.

AOB – Bishop Stortford hosting British Closed U15/U19 – 2nd weekend in Feb 06
