Herts County Junior Meeting 8/9/08
Present: Ray, Ron, Julian, Chris, Andrew Mulvey, John Beattie, Steve
Lloyd, Derek Thorpe
Apologies: Dave Richards, Dave Kerr
Finances: £4335.76p remaining for 08/09 season.
Need to obtain £1500 from the Senior Committee.
Signature mandate for the bank account was changed to Andrew Mulvey and
John Beattie who are now treasurer and Chairman.
Herts Closed:
Ron has everything under control. All events have now taken place and we
had a total of 164 entrants. This is slightly down on 2007.
Everything went to plan and all venues held successful events.
The par to 11 scoring went OK although many still need to get used to it.
Referees Paul Allen and Jill Wood did an excellent job.
Awards For All
The 07 award was signed off by the Government. Need to already start
thinking about the next one as should put application in by May 2009.
InterCounty:
Team managers all in place. Since the meeting the details of the events
have been sent by England Squash.
On the 12th October we will host the U19 at Bishop Stortford.
The U17 team will play away at Staffordshire travelling for just one game!
Inter Club
Ron was still awaiting a few entries. Planned start on the 5th October.
Girls Squash
21 girls attended the last squash morning on the 31/8/09. Julian showed
the newsletter he issues which was very good.
There is a plan to resurrect the inter county friendly with Norfolk and
Cambs.
County Training Sessions:
Dates are to found in the calendar for the younger age groups. Steve and
Dave Richards to arrange some training mornings for U13 and possibly U15.
Herts County Website:
Derek Thorpe attended the meeting as his role is to keep the site as up to
date as is possible. Derek was of the opinion that we under used the
resource and need to send more Junior information. Match reports, player
achievements, club achievements etc.
The web site is not only for the county and you can promote your club on
it.
The junior committee needs to look into the possibility of providing more
information and maybe an information officer needs to be appointed.

With Chris Thomas standing down after 4 years on the committee thanks was
given for all of his efforts during this time.
