Herts County Junior Squash

Herts County Junior Meeting 9/5/05

Present: Ray, Ron Worrell, Steve Lloyd, Simon Andrews

Finances – Current balance £6150. As you can see without the new funding we would have been struggling!

Once again a discussion on a fee requested by Bishops Stortford for lighting was required as at £6.00 per hour it was felt excessive and reflected the full charge a club would receive. It was felt that for Junior activities clubs should be more flexible and as courts were mainly taken on ‘off peak’ times then a reduced rate should be applied.

It was felt that a maximum £3.00 per hour for court lighting was a more acceptable figure. For future events anything over this amount must be referred to the committee for approval.

The above rate was charged for the U13 training day. Steve Lloyd for 05/06 training days should seek a club in the County where they are prepared to offer a maximum of the above or preferably F.O.C..

Ron Worrell is owed £100 for Jan/Feb.
Steve Lloyd - £50 for Coaching U13’s.

The cost for the U13 team to travel to Pontefract was likely to be in the region of £350.

Interclub: One Sunday was remaining. This has now been concluded and Ron has finalised league positions. Congrats and thanks to Ron for running this which has gone with only minor hiccups.

Intercounty: The U13 team came 3rd in the Country. Well done.

Awards For All: Broxbourne are happy to take 27 Children from the local school and Ron is in negotiations to assist.

Mount Grace in Potters Bar – ongoing

Coaching: Steve Lloyd to come to the committee with a list of training days for 05/06. This is to focus on u11/u13/u15 and girls.

Girls Squash: Janet will present her outlined plans for Girls squash 05/06 at the meeting of the 6/6/05.

There were 12 attendees at the last girls training day.

10th April had mixed U/9 event – lost to Middlesex (at Finchley Manor)
U11 event – beat Cambridge and Middx
12th June U13 Girls event planned at St Ives – Cambs, Suffolk, Norfolk, Herts.

Graded Tournament – Radlett – scheduled 10/7/05 and 28/8/05. All ages (9-18) 2-5pm.

Rankings – New rankings out. New computerised system to be reviewed as suggested by Dudley.

Herts Closed: Ray called England Squash and was advise that the most likely dates was 24th/25th sept.

With this as central date the U9/U11 should be held on the 17/18th at Radlett and U15/u19 on the 1st/2nd Sept at HCC.

The entry fee was discussed and it was felt an increase to £12 per entry would be acceptable. The fee has not increased for several years.

There was much discussion on the payment to Ron Worrel for running this event with the final proposal being a flat fee of £150 plus £1.00 per entry. We are all aware that Ron has managed to increase numbers over the years but this does take a lot of chasing etc. If Ron manages to get the number to 150 then he will be rewarded accordingly.

AOB: Steve Lloyd is looking to take his Part 3.

Committee officers for 05/06 need to be considered and new members found who hopefully have young Children in the younger age groups. Any ideas welcome!!
