Ladies Senior County Squash Weekend
LADIES
COUNTY TEAM - Division One South Team:
Unfortunately the team were without No. 1 Zoe Durbach and also Maureen Winter and Sheila Blake. However, making her first appearance for the county was Emma Abegglan. Emma was unable to play at the first weekend due to illness but is a welcome addition to the ladies team. Sally Philp who has played for the county Vets team on numerous occasions also made here first appearance. Laura Taylor made another welcome appearance in the team, together with Elke and myself, the old faithfuls! Counties competing were Gloucestershire, Norfolk and Devon. Unfortunately Norfolk withdrew from the weekend, which meant we had one match on Saturday and one on Sunday. We played Devon first and thought we were off to a good start when Elke went 2-0 up in her game and Sally won her first game but after two long matches they both lost 3-2, very unlucky. Laura, Emma and myself all lost 3-0. With no Norfolk to play we then headed into Cheltenham for a spot of retail therapy, but weren’t very impressed, we didn’t manage to spend any money! This then left eating and drinking as the options, which we did with great skill! We played Gloucestershire on Sunday morning and unfortunately we lost 4-1 with Emma salvaging some team pride by winning 3-0. Although this was the relegation weekend, only one team get relegated and this will be Norfolk, so fortunately we remain in the same division.
