The team was Martin Geear (B/Stortford), Lasantha Fernando (Radlett), Gavin Roger-Lund (Cannons St. Albans), Martin White (HCC), Tom Griffin (Hazlewood) and Dominic Webster (HCC).

On Saturday morning, Herts beat all 4 players that Northamptonshire sent 3-0.

In the afternoon Las Fernando was rested due to a groin injury and Dominic Webster made his Herts debut. We played Cambridgeshire and Martin White got off to a flying start by going 2-0 up. On the other court Dominic was struggling against an experienced opponent who didn't allow him the chance to settle and was beaten 3-0. Unfortunately Martin White's lack of match practice caused him to run out of steam and was beaten in 5. Tom Griffin who also made his Herts debut arrived late after getting lost trying to find Bishop's Stortford Squash Club. He clearly had other things on his mind (like how was he going to find his way home!!!) and lost in 3 close games. This meant that Cambs had an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Martin Geear and Gavin Roger-Lund restored some Hertfordshire pride by beating the Cambs 1 and 2 players 3-0. Gavin's performance was particularly impressive and he remained unbeaten throughout the weekend.

On Sunday morning we had to beat Wiltshire. Las Fernando returned to the side despite injury to help the team to a 4-1 win. The only loser was Martin White, who this time battled back from 2-0 down only to run out of steam in the fifth.

Wins were secured by Martin Geear who became stronger as the weekend progressed, Las, Gavin and Tom.

Well done to the team and we look forward to gaining promotion next year.
