Mens Over 35 County Weekend

The Herts mens team were desperately unlucky to lose out in the first stage of the Over 35 Inter-Counties. In the first match against Suffolk, Bruce St. Leger from R3 Stevenage hurt his groin in his first game whilst playing Marvin Rust and had to retire and withdraw from the rest of the weekend. This meant that Herts could only field 4 players for the afternoon session, this was due to player unavailability and having nominated the squad in the morning meant that no other players could be called in.
Herts ended up losing 4-1 to Suffolk who were by far the strongest team of the weekend.

In the afternoon Herts needed to beat Gloucestershire and Las Fernando (Radlett) was bought in at 2 to bolster the team with Steve LLoyd (Harpenden) at 3 and Martin White (HCC) at 4. Jason Foster got the team off to a winning start at 1 winning 3-0.
Martin never got going and went down 3-0, Las Fernando was his usual imperious self and won 3-1, Steve Lloyd battled back from 2-0 down to draw level but ran out of steam in the fifth and had to run out of the club as he had a coaching commitment the other side of the county, Hard Luck Steve. This meant that the match was lost 3-2.

On Sunday morning against Cambridgeshire Gary Raw (Radlett) returned to strengthen the team and helped Herts to win 3-2. There were convincing wins from Jason Foster, Las Fernando and Steve Lloyd. Well done to the team, better luck next time.
