Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis and Squash Rackets Club
recently unveiled their impressive new show court and lounge area at an open
evening featuring four top pros and packed with junior workshops.
The new court has banked seating which can hold around 70 spectators which was full to capacity to watch the exhibition matches. Dominique Lloyd-Walter played Lauren Briggs before up and coming star Tom Richards took on local favourite Chris Ryder. Both matches seemed to entertain the capacity crowd as did the players Q&A sessions held after the matches by club captain Scott Rickard. The crowd were then able to retire to the new lounge for refreshments with the pros staying on court for some mixed doubles action. The new show court, along with the investment, shows the ambition of the club to become the premiere squash venue in Hertfordshire and demonstrates the importance investment can play in rejuvenating facilities and engaging squash with the wider community. |
