Men’s Over 55 Inter County Championships 1999/2000
[Back to Home Page]
Once again, Hertfordshire were able to prove that even the County’s senior squash players can still perform at the highest level.
Playing at the Stourport Squash Club, Worcestershire, the Herts Men’s O55 squad, of Len Froggitt, Tony Clifford, Ivan Wright, Tony Perry, Barry Skelding & Norman Goodfellow, acquitted themselves well. Playing in the promotion group, with the prize of making it into the Premier Division, the Herts team, were up against Kent (the eventual winners), Worcester (hosts for the weekend) & Gloucester.
With so many quality teams competing against each other for only one promotion place, it was evident that consistency would be the order of the day. Unfortunately for Hertfordshire, only Tony Clifford, could show the required consistency & remained unbeaten during the weekend. The combination of results placing Hertfordshire in second place and destined to another season in Division 1. However, the team will be back, meaner & leaner for the experience.
Captain’s report: Len Froggitt
