HERTS O-45 CountyThe Herts O-45 Mens team finished second in their Stage 2 weekend at Broxbourne S.C. to preserve their Div 1 status after a season hit by injury and unavailability. In December the team travelled to Sussex for Stage 1.With three players dropping out in the preceding week, it was surprising that Herts managed to put out a full team for all 3 matches, let alone record a fine win over the hosts. Skipper Julian Craxton was grateful for the efforts of the squad, especially those who came in at the last minute. Suffolk and Hampshire proved to be formidable opponents but it was an enjoyable weekend. Facing the prospect of relegation,Herts hosted Stage 2 at Broxbourne on Feb 4-5 and needed to win at least 2 ties.Fortunately the side recorded two 5-0 wins on the Saturday so the defeat at the hands of a strong Sussex team on the Sunday didn’t matter;only the evergreen Mike Lancey prevented a whitewash.Thanks go to Len and Karen for their hosting efforts.
