RESULTS

The highlight of the Tom Elton Barratt Junior tournament was Jonathan Fuller winning the Boys Under 17 event beating the number 1 seed Will Newnham from Sussex in a thrilling final. Jon won the first game 9/5 and was winning the second game comfortably when he lost concentration of the game to lose it 10/9, Will seized upon this opportunity and fought back into the match taking the third game 9/4. The match involved lots of long rallies using all four corners of the court and the competitiveness shown by both players meant that both players had to be warned for excessive physical contact however this improved the quality of the match, in the fourth game Will raced into what seemed to be an unassailable lead but Jonathan summoned energy reserves from somewhere and regained his composure to save match ball to take the game 10/8. Newnham came out fighting in the fifth and again raced into an early lead but Jonathan drew level and then passed him to take the match and the title for the first time.

Other Herts players to do well were Rhys Thomas from HCC, he reached the Final of the boys under 17 plate Final but lost to Jake Mitchell (Cambs) 3-0.
