Triage Squash + Newsletter No.20 5th April 2002
I happened to notice that it was Peter Nicol's birthday today. A fact made more interesting in that he share's it with another master of the 'wee ball'.....me !
More seriously, those who have not seen teletext, the National & local Newspapers or the Internet for the past couple of days (Where have you been?) will not be aware that Triage Squash are in the National League Final !!!! A planned 2-3 defeat in the second leg gave us a 6-4 aggregate score against last season's National Champions, Edgbaston Priory. A victory made sweeter by the fact that they knocked us out at this stage last season, before going on to beat Lexden in the final. Once again, Lexden have made it to the final, but have only the experience of being runner's up. One sensation we will hope to keep with them.
And now for the 7th May. The venue will be Lamb's Squash Club, Lamb's passage, Chiswell St, London. EC3. We have already advised Cantabrica, our coach supplier, that we will need more than just the usual one executive coach. Those fortunate to be at Lamb's two years ago will recall the exceptional night that we had. Over 230 spectators watched Rod Durbach beat Julian Wellings to give Triage Squash victory on the Lamb's showcourt. About 150 came from Broxbourne!! Let's create that same atmosphere again, and who knows what will happen?
We would really appreciate your support, so take the day / afternoon / evening off and support your team. See some of the best players in the World.
Mark Chaloner vs. David Evans
Rodney Durbach vs. Simon Parke
Sue Rose vs. Rebecca Macree
Important. For the first time, ticket sales will directly benefit the Club. We will received at least 50% of the proceeds of all the tickets bought through ourselves. So don't go direct to Lamb's, speak to me, Gordon Wyper or Geoff Long about being there. I'm happy to deal with ticket request's over the Internet. (andybooth@ntlworld.com) Get your group of mate's together and join in the fun.
The plan is to travel from Broxbourne Sports Club by executive coach (supplied by Cantabrica). For those who have not been to away matches before, they are the business! The main coach, with the players will leave Broxbourne at about 4.00pm, but to help those who work until 5.00pm, I am proposing that a second coach leave at 5.30pm. This will give ample time to arrive at Lamb's for the scheduled 7.00pm start. The cost per ticket, to include numbered seat at Lamb's plus cost of travel will be announced shortly.
Start talking to everyone you know, get a list of names and then speak to me about being at one of the great Squash sporting events.
