Triage Squash Newsletter No. 25                    +

The National Squash League season might be over for another year, but our squad players are busy around the world, none the less. This time it's the turn of the younger members of the squad to get some recognition.

Firstly, 18 year old Alison Waters, fresh from her experience in the NL Final, has jumped a massive 24 places in the May World Rankings, to 75. Her excellent result in the Odense Open in Denmark, seeing her get through four rounds, beating World No.42 Laura Keating on the way, before succumbing to another Triage Squad player, Ellen Petersen in the quarter-final, certainly helped. Well done Alison.

Further West, Borja Golan & Jan Koukal have been enjoying the rewards of training with Mark, Rod & Alex, by both of them reaching the semi-final of the Hi-Tec & Dunlop Open in Prague. This continues Borja's run of form after another excellent result earlier this month, in wining the Mega Italia Open. I suspect his current World ranking of 167, will change considerably. Not bad for someone who was told by his father recently to give up squash & go to University!

Elsewhere, Alex Stait, has been in action, in the Atlanta Open. Alex went through a tough qualifying tournament & then was drawn against the No.2 seed, Canadian, Victor Berg. Alex will be disappointed with the result as he led 2-1, but then went down 2-3 to the more experienced player, ranked 45 places above him.

Finally, Mark Chaloner will be centre stage in a couple of weeks time (17-21 June) when he is one of 8 players competing in the Super Series Finals at the Broadgate Arena, close to Liverpool Street Station in London. Other finalists include, Peter Nicol, David Palmer, Jonathon Power, John White, Stewart Boswell, Thierry Lincou & Ong Beng Hee.
