So far so good, the hard work put in by so many people both on and off the court has paid off. With one week of the League still to go Triage Squash from Broxbourne have won the Southern Divisional title, giving them automatic entry into the end of season play offs with choice of home or away advantage. Our opponents will be either Wolverhampton or last seasons Champions, Edgebaston Priory, who play each other Tuesday night in the final match of the season, both teams being on 29 points!
The first leg of the play offs is on Tuesday 19th March, and as per usual, we have laid on the executive team coach to take everyone. Space on the 'exclusive' semi final coach will be very limited (after players & sponsors) to approx 20 places on the 32 seat coach ( all seats with table's and TV's, separate video's at front & back of coach, W.C., galley etc - its the business you have to believe me!) Please let me know if you want tickets to join us, ASAP. The coach will be leaving Broxbourne for either Wolverhampton or Edgbaston at approx 3.00pm. It will mean a short day for those with office hours but with two Grays rackets to be won in a raffle on the coach, it will be a profitable trip for two lucky winners. Cost as per usual, for the coach, is only £10 a seat. You might even win a racket! Contact me immediately to reserve your seats. We will also be unveiling a new casual team shirt with 'Divisional Winners' embroidered onto it (Black/Gold)!!
Results from around the World see squad members performing better than others. Ellen Petersen lost in the semi final of the Danish Open (she was the No.1 seed), but young Spaniard Borja Golan who is competing in the Swiss Open alongside Alex Stait, has surprised many by firstly qualifying & then storming into the semi final, only to loose to Dutchman, Laurens Anjema. Alex Stait had lost earlier to Laurens in the qtr final!
Our team for Tuesday, is Mark Chaloner, Rodney Durbach, Alex Stait & Alister Walker. I have just notified the League that we will be unable to field a lady player to firstly to injury to Sue, in last weeks match, from which I understand she is still recovering. Alison & Ellen are also both unavailable. But with Rod, Alex & Alister all protecting unbeaten runs this season, I expect no quarter given.
So, turn up at Broxbourne Sports Club and join us at 3.00pm for the away match to Lexden this Tuesday & most definitely let me know if you want to be at the first leg of the semi final, away to Wolverhampton or Edgbaston, the following Tuesday 19th March. Book the time off now and join us for a great day out.
cheers,
Andy
