TVS Broxbourne Newsletter No.3

The 'banter' has already begun between the two teams, with both Tim Garner expecting a firework or two at the Connaught Club on Tuesday night. With a large Broxbourne travelling crowd expected the night will be very vocal.

GARNER GOES FOR FIREWORKS
Despite a very tight budget this year, we decided to 'remember, remember, the 5th of November' with some fireworks at the Connaught Club by fielding Peter Nicol & Ong Beng Hee for the first time together. Thanks to Peter's change in allegiance the rules now allow us to field the two of them at the same time. Unfortunately, the budget might not be quite so easy to get around, so this may not occur too often. However, the match between UK Packaging & Broxbourne has traditionally been a fiery and well supported affair, so we decided to reward the sponsors and the fans with a chance to see a cracking match.  Tim Garner

UKP: Peter Nicol, Ong Beng Hee, Tim Garner, Lee Jemmett, Carla Khan

Meanwhile ...

TVS Broxbourne look forward to renewing old battles when they visit Connaught on Tuesday night. This corresponding fixture last season saw an appeal prior to the match from Broxbourne when Connaught captain announced that he would be playing at 1st string and Ong Beng Hee at 2nd string! With no League panel officials available to make a ruling, the match went ahead, with the aforementioned Tim playing Mark Chaloner & 'Bengy boy' playing Rod Durbach. To add to the headache of the panel, Tim beat Mark & Rod beat Bengy! The panel verdict was that no one had been effected by the results & in their opinion this would have been the result, but in reverse! Nice logic.

This season with the threat of Broxbourne obviously concerning Tim, Connaught put out what can only be described as their strongest possible 1-2-3 in many a season. Nicol, Beng Hee & Garner, who play Chaloner, Durbach and Stait or Meddings. Broxbourne can consider themselves to be looking down the barrel ! Alistair Walker will take on Lee Jemmett at 4th string with Caroline Heal taking on Connaughts lady player.

Result? Well, with rule book at the ready, I predict the Gordon & Andy will 'have it off' on the fruit machine, winning the Jackpot, like they did last season!!

If you haven't already got your tickets, do it now.
