Broxbourne Player World Rankings

In the latest World Squash rankings, TVS Broxbourne players have all accredited themselves well.
  • Borja Golan, holds pride of place this month, breaking into the Worlds top 50 for the first time at 48, after some excellent results.
  • Alex Stait, is up seven places to an all time high of 82, destined for grater things.
  • Jan Koukal moves up to 107, again his highest ever, watching over his shoulder for Alistair.
  • Alistair Walker continues his rapid entry by moving up next to Jan Koukal at 108, again a personal best.
Well done to all of them, and credit to the person responsible for coaching them to these giddy heights, who does not get the publicity he so richly deserves, John Milton & the 'Prospects' squash academy based at Broxbourne Sports Club. Keep it going John.

Squash Newsletter No.5
Report 26th Nov 2002

With Xmas fast approaching, National Squash League Group B leaders, TVS Broxbourne are in no mood to let the 'foot of the gas' against bottom placed Guildford in the next round of the National Squash League. Fresh from playing American hardball doubles, team captain, Mark Chaloner returns to lead another formidable line up against a side who pushed us pretty hard last year in this fixture running out 3-2 winners. Only Danny Meddings & Alistair Walker survive from the corresponding fixture last season, with Meddings now playing at 3rd string instead of 1st string. Out from last year go Adam Stevenson, Alex Stait & Sue Rose, to be replaced by Mark Chaloner, Rodney Durbach & Alison Waters.

When Guildford returned to Broxbourne later in the season, we were ready for them & dished out a 5-0 drubbing (Chaloner, Gaultier, Meddings, Walker & Rose), with Gaultier being particularly severe on Stacey Ross. Greg will be on court for Broxbourne in the New Year.

The Guildford side have amassed only 7 points so far, with five of those coming in their first match against Connaught. Since then, Lexden 4-1, Lee-on-Solent 4-1 & Chichester 5-0 have had a field day. Each time Stephen Meads has led them, in the absence of the long term injured Paul Johnson. Although not a push over, they lack any depth when PJ is absent. Hence the string of poor results. It can only be a matter of time before Ian Robinson, Guildford's Team Manager, must be expecting from a message of support from the board! Nudge, nudge!

Making her debut for Broxbourne this season will be 18 yr old Alison Waters, who has decided to try her hand on the Women's Professional circuit after finishing exams earlier this year. We wish her well. Anyone who has seen Alison play for us will know what a tremendous prospect she is.

Finally, we have laid on transport for the Guildford match, anyone who is interested, should contact Geoff or Adam to book a seat. See you there.
