All squash lovers are urged to support WORLD SQUASH DAY on March 19, 2005.

World Squash Day is endorsed by England Squash and the World Squash Federation, and last year events took place in more than 40 countries. This year's World Squash Day is the focal point of a global day of activities to promote squash's bid for inclusion in the 2012 Olympic Games.

Squash’s battle for Olympic recognition has been a long one, involving years of campaigning. At long last we feel we could be on the verge of a major breakthrough. The bid document has been delivered to the IOC by the World Squash Federation and we wait with baited breath for the decision in the summer. Meanwhile, squash clubs and associations can raise the profile of the sport by holding events in clubs and cities on World Squash Day to promote the sport, attract new people to squash, and publicise the Olympic bid.

T-SHIRTS:
PowerPlay Sports, based in Manchester, have produced a range of fabulous World Squash Day T-shirts for squash players of all ages to wear with pride. As well as wearing them on court, squash lovers are urged to wear them on the streets, away from your clubs, so that we can spread the message to as many people as possible.

EVENTS:
All squash clubs are urged to hold a day of activity on March 19. These could involve junior clinics, free trials for youngsters, inter-club friendly matches, doubles and handicap tournaments. Whatever you do, please try to get the media involved so that we can create a blaze of publicity for the sport on this one special day of the year.
